Appearance:

Mao's appearance can be coined with the term 'neglected'. In all
aspects, he's actually rather dislevelled and awkward looking. As a
full-blooded demon, he's very prideful of his heritage, but you
wouldn't think it if you were to just bump into him. Always straight
to the point with his ideas and experiments, Mao probably forgets to
do every day necesities like showering (and certainly doesn't wash his
hands! What good demon would?) and eating. Perhaps he feels these
sorts of things aren't important when he has new experiments to toy
with and trying to find new ways of taking down his father.

Usually, the first thing people will notice about Mao is his scowling
face and red eyes. Framing his eyes are large, round glasses, which
Mao probably needs due to poor eyesight. (Not just because he wants to
look cool!) His dislevelled apperance isn't helped by his rather wild
and poofy white hair, too. It covers most of his face (as well as
hides a crescent scar on his forhead)

Stature wise, Mao must be compensating somewhere. Mao is rather
short for his age. (Tiny, even!) Barely reaching the height of 5 feet,
his small stature definitively makes him look younger than he appears.
(Well, it would if he didn't scowl so much.) Though he is technically
1578 years old, as a demon he ages slower than humans do. Mao has a
very light-weight, perhaps even malnourished, body-frame. His time
spent indoors is rather apparent, what with his skinny body and his
pale skin. One can tell a lot about Mao's personality just by how he
presents himself.

When he is seen in public, he's always shown wearing his red school
uniform draped on his shoulders as if it were a cape. Underneath, he
wears a black long-sleeved shirt, black pants, and white pants ontop
of those. Certainly, the white pants look a bit too small for him
but...

On his School Uniform, he wears insignias of being an honor student,
he's very proud of never having to attend a class or bother
volunteering and the like. In the Netherworld, bad students are high
regarded while good students are considered delinquents.

Personality:

Most people wouldn't want to go near Mao, he's not exactly the type of
person who makes friends and welcomes people with open arms. Mao loves
science, he loves playing video games, experimenting on live test
subjects, and learning more about humans and heroes. Though one would
think he is an admirer of heroes, it's actually quite the opposite. He
despises them, to the point of knocking one out and dragging him back
to his castle in order to detain him. Though he hates heroes, he sees
them as useful. He wants to defeat his father, who is a Demon King.
One way that one can defeat demon kings (or Overlords, as they're
known in these stories) is to be a hero.

Obviously, Mao has it set in his head that he has to become a hero if
he wants to kill his father and take his throne.

Of course, not every story is as simple as it seems. Due to a
traumatic experience, Mao is obsessed with taking down his father. He
alludes himself into believing this is the only way he can do it, and
he will obsessively carry out the task no matter what. Even if it
means he has to do something he hates doing, he'll still do it. He'll
force himself to complete his task even if he hasn't thought it out
well.

Mao is an antisocial demon, he spends his days reading comic books,
playing video games, watching anime, and doing things that would be
considered almost... strange for a demon boy his age. He's
never gone to school, but he's actually a very intelligent young man.
He refuses to go to school because he enjoys being an honor student,
he is elite in his bad doings and he'll continue that way. At first,
Mao can be perceived as one that doesn't want to change his ways, but
slowly and through coaxing he's actually got quite a big heart
underneath that cold exterior.

Mao keeps many of his emotions locked away. Like, quite literarily!
His heart is closed off from the world and it's kept in a bank for his
own protection. To him, if he were to open his heart (and let foreign
emotions in) he could potentially be killed or broken by it. His heart
is full of darkness, but Mao does have the capability of being a good
person and learning to use the goodness in his heart, instead of the
darkness.

ANYWAY, Mao is a very eccentric and curious individual. He'll spend
his days experimenting, or reading up new material on foreign
subjects- but he still feels very apathetic and perhaps sadistic
towards heroes and the human kind. His curious mind is child-like, he
doesn't understand concepts of love and affection well, so he
substitutes them with thoughts of science and chemical formulas. When
a new subject is brought up, Mao tends to quiet down and listen, but
he'll pretend he doesn't really care or that a subject is stupid.
Because of his wealth of knowledge (but no actual practicality towards
it) he's learning more of the world that surrounds him as well as that
of the human world (much to his distaste.)

Once Mao met Almaz, a human hero boy he encounters and kidnaps, his
personality slowly started changing. Whether it was due to Mao's
acquirement of the Hero Title from Almaz or due to him actually having
"friends" that cared for him, Mao started to become more active in
school activities. He's going to class and is seen with people that
aren't his butler, perhaps he'll even smile (not sadistically...) at
them sometimes! ... All in All, He's still rather rude and
unforgiving, half the time he's seen threatening Almaz- but as they
progress and learn, Mao comes to term with many aspects of himself and
learns to open himself more to others.

Underneath that exterior, Mao is actually quite... nice. He's
easily flustered when others call him out on it, or thank him... he
yells at others and refuses to call anyone his friends. It's not until
Almaz says those exact words to him that Mao realizes that he has
friends and that they're important to him. He'll fight for his
friends, but never admit to it. He's actually rather thoughtful when
he gets past his own emotional and psychological problems. (Which,
sadly, is rare due to the depth of manipulation and hurt he's faced
from those close to him.)

So in the end, Mao has a lot of learning to do. He's got the
potential and the heart, it's all a matter of whether he'll be able to
succeed or not.

Abilities:

Mao is very intelligent, he's a critical thinker and - although he
doesn't plan things out too far in advance - he does put his mind
towards something and completes it no matter what. He has an Evil
Quotient of 1.8 Million, a sort of way of saying that he's pretty damn
smart. Whether he knows how to put those smarts into practical use is
really up in the air.

Even if he hates doing something, he'll still pull through with it.
Mao's skilled in both brute strength with a sword and magical offense.
He's naturally inclined toward the ice elemental magics. He's able to
cast high level ice spells, he's usually seen using a sword and
barking out orders to his underlings, though.

On a final note, Mao's a sort of mad scientist in disguise. He will
start calculating and plotting how to dissect anyone he finds
interesting or unique. He's very thorough~!

Weaknesses:

Mao is emotionally unbalanced. Though he seems very brash and rude
upfront, he's been under a lot of stress and trauma. He tends to have
a frail mental state when things don't go his way. He calculates
everything, and errors are unacceptable. Mao's very 'to the point' and
doesn't question much of what he's doing. If it's a discussion about
his dad or The Great Hero Aurum, Mao tends to quiet down. For the most
part, he'll start yelling, thrash, and snap at people if they say
something that he might not agree with or if it's something he finds
stupid. It's very difficult to get close to him, he dislikes many
people from the start, especially if they're human.

Any mention of his father or his butler, Jiiya, tends to set off Mao.
Sometimes he can be seen thinking to himself at night because of these
things. He's also very naive about emotions that he's unfamiliar with,
friendship and love are new concepts to him and at times they actually
can frighten him. Because his heart has been closed off for so long,
he is vulnerable to new feelings and - if you're not careful with him-
you could cause him to snap at you. Sometimes, he'll even start
mumbling about murdering everyone if he's angry enough.

Mao also has problems expressing himself. He'll tell people to shut up
and clam up when it comes to emotions. He refuses to call anyone his
friend but secretly he desperately wants friends. It's very easy to
fluster him too, he'll start stuttering and his voice will waver if he
doesn't know the aswer to something.

When things don't go as planned, he also tends to panic severely. Mao
is terrible at hiding his feelings, I must say. His voice will
instantly change from a confident one to a slightly panic, fast paced
voice. When he's distraught, his own actions reveal his emotions. He
just can't hide how he feels, no matter how hard he tries.

He'll be weakened dramatically in terms of magical and physical potential. Mao appears to have a bit of a frail body. He's physically going to be a 15 year old boy with a sword that can use light ice skills. He tires easily, and can't see without his glasses.
